PHILOSOPHY
working on muscles, ligaments, joints
unfortunately we have to dive a little bit into anatomy, to show You the difference between our technique and the „normal“ one taught at almost every massage school.
an example: one is working on the right underarm, on the muscle stretching from the wrist to the elbow. normally therapists massage between wrist and elbow up and down, following this muscle - that‘s it. unfortunately this does not do much good (besides being maybe comfortable), because the ligaments which keep the underarm bones (ulna and spoke bone) in position reach far into the hand and around the elbow. to include these ligaments entirely and thus to generate the desired effect of releasing the blockages of the underarm, logically one would have to follow these ligaments and massage far into the hand and around the elbow to their roots. but this is hardly ever done - most therapists just do the underarm as mentioned, go on to the upper arm and so on.
we don‘t do this - we include the part distal to the joint.
this makes a huge difference, even bigger if we transfer our underarm example to other important body parts, resp. joints, like one of the most important „communications junction“ between legs and torso: the bum (bottocks). massaging the ligaments and muscles keeping, via pelvis, the legs together with the spine, and this entirely, is crucial to an effective massage. working on legs as well as upper body one HAS to include the bum, being one of the most important body parts, especially since nowodays we sit much more than we stand.
unfortunately the whole bottom area, and this both in front (private parts area) and back, is still a „taboo area“, which makes most therapists simply „throw the towel“ - they just ignore the whole area. why? because of the underlying moral and its result: the annyoing draping technique.
